A Dinosaur Medley: Jurassic Park, Godzilla & Walk the Dinosaur.
The main group I arrange music for was performing as part of a Dinosaur themed festival. Naturally, the group wanted to do a few dinosaur songs. Dinosaur songs. Oh, and if possible, make sure to give the drummer a part, too. Oh, and keep it funky… kids love a funky drummer. This was a festival where the group was playing and people are walking by. If a kid is interested, the family is going to stop and listen.
Oddly, popular dinosaur themed music arranged for brass and drums seems to be under represented. 🙂 The first (and only) music that came to mind was the Jurassic Park theme. After some thoughts and googling, a nice medley started to come together with Jurassic Park, then into Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult, a little bit of Walk the Dinosaur by Was (not was) and then ending with Jurassic Park, all came together. The “funky” drums came in with the 2nd song and then stayed with some over the top drums on the ending.
